Draw-toberfest-Month Long Celebration of Drawing

DRAWtoberfest is a month-long celebration of drawing – not just for artists, but for EVERYONE (of ALL ages!) in Southeastern Virginia. You swung a mean crayon when you were five…who says you still can’t?

There will be drawing-themed events throughout the month, including regular meetings of the Norfolk Drawing Group (every Tuesday at 7 p.m.)* and 757 Comic & Cartoon Creators (the second Saturday of the month)**, as well as some one-off events like the Norfolk Mini Maker Faire on Saturday, October 20** and 24-Hour Comics Day taking place Saturday & Sunday, October 27-28.***

On October 21, 2012, come to the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) for the DRAWtoberfest Faire** and hang out with some of southeastern Virginia’s best artists in a casual, relaxed atmosphere where you can draw along or just observe. There will be various activities in a festival-like atmosphere for everyone, including a graffiti wall, drawing games, a caricature artist, digital drawing & anime/manga demos, tattoo art, comic workshops and a program of animated short films – there will even be live models available for drawing! This is a unique opportunity in a family-friendly atmosphere to be inspired by some of the area’s most talented artists all at one FREE event hosted at MOCA. Stay and see the Woman on the Run and Martin and Munoz exhibits showing at the museum at no charge!
Participating artists include Chris Baird, Doug Clarke, Devon Lawrence, Dave Lukeson, Mark Miltz, Drew Moss, Christine Reese, Juan Solorzano, Walt Taylor, and Vince White.
(Participating artist list is tentative and subject to change).

* 18 & up only – model fees apply
** Event is free and open to all ages.
*** Event is free and open to all ages with parental consent.
